Valuable Block of Land at Border Town
The Adelaide Register 27th Jan 1882
On TUESDAY, January 31, at 2 o’clock
———-
TOWN HALL, ADELAIDE.
———-
ANOTHER VALUABLE BLOCK OF LAND AT
BORDER TOWN, SUITABLE FOR SUBDI-
VISION.
———-
BORDER TOWN,
As recently mentioned, is destined to be
THE LARGEST TOWN
IN
THE SOUTH-EAST.
———-
One of the latest Acts of the last session of Parlia-
ment was to pass a Bill for carrying
THE NARRACOORTE RAILWAY
from
UNIVERSITY BLOCK TO BORDER TOWN.
———-
THE GREAT OVERLAND RAILWAY
from
ADELAIDE,
via the
MURRAY BRIDGE,
which at no very distant date will
be
AN ACCOMPLISHED FACT,
will have It’s
TERMINUS AT BORDER TOWN,
the Line thence running on to the
VICTORIAN BORDER
and connecting by an Iron band
THE THREE SISTER COLONIES,
NEW SOUTH WALES, VICTORIA,
and
SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
———-
FERRY, MOORE, & WILKINSON
have received instructions to sell by auction,
In one lots—
All that Splendid SECTION, No. 70, HUNDRED
TATIARA, suburban to Border Town, containing
51 ACRES
EXCELLENT LAND,
situated
NEAR THE PARK LANDS,
which divide the Section from the
original Government.
Township, which only embraces an area
of
thirty acres. A large portion of the Government
Township is in the hands of
FOREIGN CAPITALISTS.
who will not sell save at, an exorbitant price.
On the 23rd of last November a sale of Suburban
Property took place at
BORDER TOWN,
and some of the land was sold at the rate
of
ONE HUNDRED POUNDS PER ACRE.
TATIARA -
and the adjoining Hundred of
WIRREGA
are becoming thickly populated by bona-fide
settlers.
The crops in these districts are exceedingly good
this year, and it is reported that the average yield
of wheat will be
20 BUSHELS TO THE ACRE.
It is therefore confidently predicted that the
township will make rapid strides during
the coming year. As a proof of the sensibility of
these expectations It may be mentioned that the
BANK OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA
have just opened a
BRANCH AT BORDER TOWN.
On the Government Reserve and near the property
is a
RED SANDSTONE QUARRY,
which is likely to greatly enhance the value of sur-
rounding property. The stone has a dip north by
east, and geologists state that this is a sure Indication of
COAL.
There is little doubt of the existence in the Im-
mediate neighbourhood of coal, and the newly
formed Company, known as the Tatiara Coal-
mining Company are likely to commence active
operations at an early date.
