Bordertown Martial Arts Club Junior Camp 2013

9th April 2013

Bordertown Zen Do Kai Martial Arts Club held its sixth annual junior camp on the weekend of the 6th and 7th of April 2013 at Pendleton Farmstay near Keith SA. The weather was perfect all weekend and with 30 juniors from both Bordertown club and from Adelaide attending, the camp was a great success.

Bordertown Club head Kyoshi Terry Hutchings and guest instructors Kyoshi Peter Richardson and Shihan Dave Hussey from Adelaide conducted classes in weaponry, kata applications and BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). In addition over the weekend the students enjoyed canoeing, archery, a gladiator fitness session and a cross country run.

Luckily there was no wind, so despite the very dry conditions the group were able to have a bonfire outside on Saturday night, with movies screened indoors during the evening as well.

Sunday morning began with a tour to feed the wide array of farm and exotic animals kept on the property, which was then followed by two sessions of BJJ, including an informal tournament style try out of the techniques being taught.

Camp finished with a barbecue lunch on Sunday, allowing those who had to travel a long distance to leave in good time.
